Calida Presents the World’s First Compostable Shirt

The Swiss underwear brand’s I LOVE NATURE shirt blends fashion and sustainability as the first fully compostable t-shirt.

Made from TENCEL micro, Calida’s new t-shirt allows wearers to shop sustainably without compromising on comfort or style. The shirt is made from 100% cellulose, created in a closed loop process using products from sustainable forestry, helping to conserve valuable resources in every stage of its life cycle.

The short sleeved t-shirt, which comes in star white, is available in men's, women's and children's sizes. The TENCEL micro material regulates temperature, dries quickly and keeps wearers feeling fresher for longer, all whilst maintaining CALIDA's legendary comfort and softness. When users are finished with their t-shirts, they can return them to CALIDA, or simply add it to their compost heap at home. Not only is the t-shirt fabric biodegradable, but all extra materials required, including thread and labels, are tested for their sustainability and biodegradability.

The I LOVE NATURE t-shirt comes with the MADE IN GREEN by OEKO-TEX label and has also been certified by the independent Cradle to Cradle® label, awarded to recyclable products designed so that their raw materials can be used again as part of a continuous organic cycle. The raw materials are designed to maintain their quality through multiple life cycles: at the end of one life cycle, the shirts are broken down into valuable organic nutrients, which go on to help produce raw materials for future products.

I LOVE NATURE comes in special cardboard packaging, complete with an informative flyer about the organic cycle. Retailers can also benefit from a counter stand, matching hanger tag and window display concept, fully realizing the I LOVE NATURE concept.
