This week saw the Underfashion club announce the honorees of this year's Femmy awards. The awards gala, which will take place in the luxurious Cipriani 42nd street, will recognise five honorees with five unique prizes. Honorees for 2019 include both companies and individuals, and are: Walmart Inc., recipient of the Retailer award; Tommy John Inc., recipient of the Brand Award; Soma, who receive the Innovation Award; Dorothy Galligan, Industry Icon Award recipient, and Robert Vitale, who is honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
The Femmy Awards is recognised as amongst the intimate apparel industry's most important annual events, and the awards gala, as well as recognising those who have significantly contributed to the industry, raises funds for The Underfashion Club to continue supporting education for the next generation of intimate apparel designers through its Scholarship. Awards, Internship and Grants programs.
The 2020 gala will also host the 17th annual student design contest, which invites students from the Fashion Institute of Technology to design pieces around a specific theme, which this year is "Modern Intimate Movement - Design for evolving lifestyles, technology and retail."
