French Lingerie Loft Takes Place in New York City

05 November 2018

This weekend saw the inaugural French Lingerie Loft event hosted in New York City, and as a leading press organization in the industry, The Best of Intima was there to participate.

The event, organized by the Association for the Promotion of Corsetry Industries, featured 14 premium French brands displayed in a bright and beautiful space for the duration of the weekend. Beginning the event was a VIP and press evening, which allowed press, bloggers, and big names from around the industry to get to know the loft space and the highlighted products before a packed agenda of workshops and ateliers began. The evening also facilitated networking with likeminded people who shared a passion for the French way of life - especially when it comes to lingerie!

The loft created an ongoing ambience of French luxury, with French music throughout the weekend, and the atmosphere was one of warmth and openness, prompting many interesting discussions.

In the ‘Alternative to t-shirt bra like you’ve never seen before!’ workshop presented by Caroline Soulagnat of the Lise Charmel Group, guests were treated to a presentation of Lise Charmel’s history and product offer, and educated about the ways in which alternatives to the t-shirt bra can be suited to everyday use, with a little savoir-faire! Lise Charmel also presented ‘Everyday luxury, the French way,’ laying bare the importance of quality lingerie to the French way of life.

The ‘Rewriting the rules of simplicity’ workshop gave an opportunity for Sonja Winther, Alexandrine Koegel and Raquel Castellanos of Chantelle to present the brand’s history and walk guests through the styling rules that allow each of their best-selling bra styles to look their best.

Guests were also able to attend ‘The Ultimate Guide to Embroidery’, presented by Arnold Perizonius from Louisa Bracq. Sharing Louisa Bracq’s story of their journey from embroidery into the intimates industry, Mr. Perizonius shared samples and explained how embroidery techniques and patterns can affect the design, construction and fit of individual pieces.

Looking more broadly at the French lifestyle were workshops on cuisine, holistic care, chocolate, and perfumes. French fragrance house Sous le Manteau invited participants to complete a personality test in order to find a fragrance that matched their individual tastes, whilst Pascale Leon presented an introduction to holistic care, teaching participants about the practice of healing through touch. Of course, the food workshops featured nutritional, delicious diets, suited to the French way of life.

Overall, the event was an opportunity for lingerie and lifestyle aficionados to come together in a beautiful setting for a celebration of all things French. Guests left armed with a deeper understanding of what it is that makes French lingerie just so special, with the skills to inject a little French fanciness into their own lives.

The 14 participating brands were: Antigel, Antinéa, Aubade, Chantelle, Empreinte, Eprise, Epure, Implicite, Lise Charmel, Lou, Louisa Bracq, Maison Lejaby, Passionata, and Simone Pérèle.
