LA-based and Instagram-famous brand Cult Gaia has just launched its first swimwear collection with the help of Brazilian designer Adriana Degreas. The collection, which launched May 21st, features 21 pieces – including 13 bikinis and 5 one-pieces – inspired by tropical surrealism and reflecting the brand’s geometric and nature-inspired ethos. The line features prints of exotic birds and foliage in shades of green, ecru, and pink completed with tulle appliqués, macaw cutouts, and acrylic tortoise shell details. The collection is completed with a loose silk cover-up and two iterations of Cult Gaia’s now-iconic Ark bag in natural wood and acrylic tortoise shell. Prices for the collaborative collection range from $198 to $1,310, with swimwear pieces ranging from $390 to $750.
Cult Gaia designer Jasmin Larian launched the brand in 2014 with the help of her father Isaac Larian, the creator of Bratz dolls. At its inception, the brand created only bags, noteworthy for their structural and sculptural design. Larian has since expanded into clothing, shoes, and jewelry, all with a bold but natural resortwear vibe. Cult Gaia rose to fame a few years later with the bamboo half-moon shaped Ark bag, based on a traditional Japanese picnic basket. The bag has since spawned numerous imitations, and is now available in a variety of sizes and semi-translucent acrylic options.
The new swimwear collection can be found internationally at cultgaia.com and in the U.S. at adrianadegreas.com.
