Sterne der Wäsche 2016

13 June 2016

From independent boutique owners to department store buyers, from past honorees to the brand representatives sitting on this year’s panel, over 300 industry experts gathered on February 28th at Munich’s Schuhbecks Teatro...

...the one-of-a-kind restaurant owned by Michelin starred chef Alfons Schuhbeck and outstanding location for this year’s Sterne der Wäsche award ceremony. Organized by SOUS, our partner magazine in Germany, the contest has been rewarding the country’s best lingerie and swimwear retailers for the past eleven years. Hosted by TV star Roman Roell, the evening provided a chic and tasty multiple course menu as well as a number of captivating performances. The highlight of the night was the prize ceremony, which rewarded a handful of retailers chosen amongst this year’s 65 nominees as voted by 20 leading brands, in the following categories: New Stores/New Looks, Department Stores, Concept Stores, Multi-brand Retailers, Personal Touch Shops (charming and unique boutiques) and Reference Shops (must-see retail destinations), divided across two groups, the Champions League (for past winners) and the First time winners. For the seventh year, the German magazine also granted the SOUS Marketing Award to the retailer whose branding strategy was deemed the most creative and, for the very first time, gave out a special prize to an outstanding international retailer - in this case, Vienna-based department store Steffl. Event sponsor Lycra also rewarded the best window displays. Further prizes were given out to the best manufacturers, as selected by over 500 retailers who thus crowned this year's most sought-after collections, with a special attention towards the Fall/Winter 2015-16 offerings; high-end Belgian label Marie Jo was voted in the Lingerie category, German brand Sunflair's ultra-colorful styles won in the Swimwear category, Calida's Swiss-made designs were chosen for the Nightwear category, not to forget German manufacturer Mey in the Men's category. After a thrilling ceremony, the evening proceeded in high spirits, well into the small hours.
