Raúl Martinez will be joining Victoria’s Secret in the role of its new head creative director as from January 2021. Martinez, who will be reporting directly to CEO Martin Waters in New York, leaves his post as Condé Nast’s corporate creative director. On commenting his appointment Raul stated: “I am excited to join Victoria’s Secret at this pivotal moment in its history. It’s an honor to be a part of such an iconic brand and help reimagine its next era. The talented team at VS is committed to this new chapter, and together we will build a narrative that celebrates all women … one that is both aspirational and inclusive.”
Raul’s appointment is the latest in a series of key changes operated to strengthen Victoria’s Secret’s managerial structure. CEO Martin Waters himself recently replaced John Mehas who had served in the role since February 2019. Since 2008 Waters had headed L Brands’ international division expanding international business from the early phases of incubation to more than 700 stores globally. Laura Miller was named Chief Human Resources Officer of Victoria’s Secret, while Becky Behringer was promoted to Executive Vice President of North America Store Sales and Operations, and Janie Schaffer, previously Director of Lingerie and Beauty at leading British retailer Marks and Spencer plc, was named Chief Design Officer of Victoria’s Secret Lingerie. “The Board and I are thrilled by the appointments of these talented leaders with demonstrated records of execution,” said Sarah Nash, chair of L Brands’ Board of Directors.
