Based in Tenerife, the brand Ola Olita was founded in 2018 by designer Ascensión Gómez with the aim of channelling over 30 years of fashion expertise in creating a new responsible beachwear concept, which uses sustainable manufacturing processes and textiles, embodying a more ethical and aware consumer model.
The SS21 collection presented within the Canaria Swim Week by Moda Cálida takes us to Italy, to the shores of the Adriatic Sea, between the lagoon and the open sea: a journey to rediscover the seaside tradition of the Venice Lido, a favourite holiday destination for 19th century aristocracy and European cultural elite, which today is the cradle of internationally renowned artistic events (from the Film Festival to the Venice Biennale).
Ascensión Gómez celebrates the everlasting charm this location still today has on holidaymakers and tourists from all over the world, with its golden beaches, sparkling blue sea and luxurious Liberty-style hotels and palaces. Like flower petals and garlands, embroidered sequins stand out from the turquoise background, a tribute to the ornamental facades of villas and hotels whose colors echo the Lido’s sea and sky, while the solid colors are lit up by fuchsia and coral, in a fantasy of contrasting textiles and design cuts. On the catwalk, the focus is on one-piece suits with deep necklines and high cut legs, triangle bikini tops and round necklines enhancing breasts, high waist bottoms, Brazilians and audacious cut-outs.
