This year, New York Fashion week has been terribly exciting. Things have taken a political turn with Mexican designer Raul Solis' protest underwear and Calvin Klein's choice of soundtrack, This is not America by the late great David Bowie. On a lighter note, Yandy.com debuted their ready-to-wear swim collection on Valentine's Day under the theme 'Jetset' at Pier 59 Studios. Three lines were showcased, 'Shahs Life' which features lively motifs, animal prints, and gold accents; 'Havana Nights': a Cuban-inspired range with a rich spectrum of hues and intricate floral details and, finally, the 'Black and White' which offers a contemporary take on a classic look. Current Guess swim and lingerie model Rachel Mortenson headlined the show, which ended with the surprise unveiling of the brand's latest lingerie.
Yandy joined in with leading labels 'See Now Buy Now' trend as their full collection was available for order or preorder on their website directly after the show. Other notable brands embracing technology in this way include Ralph Lauren, Rebecca Minkoff, and Gigi x Tommy Hilfiger, even if the debate on whether significant numbers of consumers are making use of this service continues.
