Munroe Bergdorf, the model and activist hailed as an icon for her outspoken stance on diversity, race, gender and LGBT+ topics, is the face of the UK brand Bluebella's Valentine's Day campaign, #LoveYourself. Bergdorf has gained a large following in recent years, and is often invited to speak on the fashion industry and diversity. She uses her platform to advocate for positive change, appearing regularly on television, and writing for a range of magazines and newspapers.
As an openly transgender model, Bergdorf has been candid with the public about her relationship with herself and her femininity, and this is one of the factors that makes her an ideal choice of model for a campaign celebrating the beauty of individuality and women's personal journeys towards self love, as well as the empowerment that lingerie can bring to them.
Speaking on her decision to participate in the campaign, Bergdorf expressed her belief in the importance of lingerie: “What’s so amazing about lingerie is that it can really emphasize your own femininity... I’ve never felt so sure of myself or as empowered as a human being as I do now. It has taken a long time to get to this point where I just feel calmness. In the early stages of transition I was scared of the masculine parts of my body but it has changed so much during the process. I’m now in a position where I don’t care about other people’s opinions on my appearance…. If someone knows I’m trans I don't feel ashamed of that any more. I think it’s something to celebrate and it’s a part of me.”
#LoveYourself is also stretching to Instagram, where it features a variety of models and influencers . Other models participating in the #LoveYourself campaign include Sophie Lee, Joanne Dion, and Elisabetta Soskic.
