Lycra Fiber Moves conference is an event that sees the best of the international legwear industry come together to network, exchange ideas, and share inspiration. This year, around 200 key players -including hosiery manufacturers, coverers, distributors, brands, retailers and trade media- were welcomed to the invitation-only event to share new market insights, future trends and the latest innovations from Invista for socks and hosiery . As a leading international press group in the underwear, beachwear and hosiery sectors, Intima Media Group was among the invitees at this event, alongside top players and trendsetters with leading companies including Golden Lady, Calzedonia and many others on the international scene, as well as distributors including department stores and the most famous regional distributors in various European countries.
On the first day, a rich programme of seminars and in-depth studies focused on current hot topics for the present and future of the industry.
Opening the proceedings was a speech by author and columnist Alan Friedman, focusing on current macro-economic trends. The theme of Millenials offered interesting insights, with two speeches by Euromonitor in which Alison Angus illustrated the main consumer trends characteristic of this specific market, while Miles Agbanrin explored consumer behavior and influence on the retail sector. Professor Ada Ferri illustrated the peculiarities of clothing for colder climates, while Anna Borkowicz of Wtin examined the phenomenon of digitalization in apparel. Anne Marie Commandeur of the Stijlinstituut Amsterdam also took the stage to look at predicted 2019/2020 fashion trends in socks and hosiery.
During the conference Invista presented its latest developments designed specifically for hosiery: Lycra Fusion True To You, a patent-pending technology dedicated to the development of 3D sheer tights, through the combination of the Lycra Fusion yarn with a new knitted construction to give the legs a bright and natural look ; Thermolite FIR, a spun, dyed black fiber with special ceramic additives able to absorb part of the infrared energy emitted by the skin and return it in the form of heat, keeping legs warmer for longer, for intensely black leggings that retain their color even after numerous washes; and Lycra Made to Fit You, initially designed for knee-highs and now extended to the world of stay-ups, which offers a specially constructed top band, designed to adapt to thighs of different shapes and sizes.
To finish the event, in the exclusive Villa Erba location, the evening was rounded off with cocktails and dinner, during which a runway show presented the anticipated legwear trends for 2019/2020, alongside Invista's latest innovations for the sector.
During the evening, Patrizia Giangrossi, owner of Pierre Mantoux and Cathleen Moxham and Antonio Iandolo of Hanes Brands Inc., longstanding clients of the Lycra fiber, were awarded for their special contribution to Legwear, and for their loyalty to the brand. Friday morning breakfast provided invitees with yet another interesting networking opportunity.
