We reached out to Deana Stankowski, Strategic Marketing
Director for Active and Intimates at The Lycra Company to know more...
The partnership with Browzwear is
the latest element of a multifaceted
digital transformation that The Lycra
Company began last year with the
launch of the Lycra One customer
portal, an online marketplace
connecting brands, retailers, and
garment makers to a global network of
partner mills in a virtual capacity. With
the true-to-life visualisations made
possible with Browzwear’s innovative
software VStitcher and Lotta, designers
can digitally create activewear, swimwear, ready-to-wear,
and intimate apparel fashions using fabrics showcased
in the Lycra Brand Materials Library. All the materials
reproduced in digital versions can be sourced directly
from the mills featured on Browzwear. These materials
have been tested and certified by The Lycra Company,
ensuring they contain the company’s authentic fibres.
Deana, why did you choose to work with Browzwear
specifically?
Browzwear is a leader in the 3D design industry. They are
trusted by the world’s biggest brands. Additionally, they
held the same interest and value in partnering to advance
the capabilities of 3D design.
What results have you seen since this partnership
started?
So far, we have been in a trial period, where both
companies learn to work together. We have seen that our
fabrics are being downloaded as much as they are from
other public libraries. There was a very positive reception
in the market when we announced our
partnership in July; we filled a gap by
offering a selection of fabrics with
elastification.
How many mills are using it? From
which geographical areas and
business specialty?
To date, we have 15 mills and 55
fabrics on the Browzwear public
library. These are primarily situated
in Europe and Asia. In addition, we
will be continuing to work with Browzwear to add new
resources to our library as they become available, further
enhancing digital design capabilities.
How many different fabric types for use in Intimate
Apparel and Swimwear do you have in your library?
52 of our 55 fabrics are appropriate for use in intimate
apparel and/or swim.
Is there a fee for mills or users?
We are unable to know who is downloading the fabric
files, but there is no fee for them, they just need a
Browzwear subscription.
How are you addressing security to reduce the risk of
copies?
It is becoming quite common for fabrics to be part
of public libraries and marketplaces. All mills gave
permission to use their fabrics in the library and the
Browzwear platform only captures the data necessary for
visualization in fabric and garment form.
