The Austrian eco-conscious textile innovator Lenzing has just released its sustainability report for 2018 along with its plans to partner with US brands to plant trees in honor of Earth Day. The sustainability report, entitle “Partner for Change,” became available on April 22 and covered the company’s efforts to green their supply chain over the past year. The report showed that Lenzing is on track for its sustainability goals, including reducing the sulfur emissions from their viscose production by 29%. Lenzing Group also signed the UN Fashion Industry Charter for Climate Action, committing to reducing aggregate greenhouse gas emissions by 30% by 2030. The Group also committed to investing €100 million in sustainable technology by 2022.
Lenzing also partnered with US brands on Earth Day in a campaign to plant trees. The current TENCEL Earth Month Campaign “From Trees, For Trees” supports reforestation efforts in California after the devastating forest fires that burned 876,000 acres over the past year. For the month of April, TENCEL brand has partnered with One Tree Planted to donate trees towards this effort.
Lenzing Group produces ecologically responsible fibers from wood, a renewable raw material. These fibers can be used in a wide array of textile production that can be used in everything from jeans to technical clothing. Lenzing is the owner of a number of brands, including TENCEL and MICROMODAL.
