Tucked away in the town of Manchester Centre in southern Vermont, this boutique was opened just over a year ago, after the previously existing lingerie store was purchased by former employees – it debuted a new name, a renovation, and a new focus.
On March 1, 2019, Julie Isaacs and Katherine MacLauchlan, opened La Pêche after purchasing the business from the former owner, their former boss. Once they had the keys in hand, Julie and Katherine transformed the space into one of serenity, cohesive style, and refocused the inventory and image on inclusivity and body positivity. Intentionally, the new name has many meanings – it references Julie’s Georgian heritage, from the land of peaches, and Katherine’s college major, French – in French ‘La Pêche’ means ‘the peach’ (and we are all familiar with peach-emoji subtext), however, it could also mean ‘fishing’ (perhaps fishing for compliments), as well as ‘full of energy’ and ‘in high spirits’ (as clients certainly feel with their new purchases in hand). This budding business is unwilling to be intimated by what the future might hold and is instead embracing it: excited to try new styles, collaborate with new brands, and expand or alter the product offering.
La Pêche is already known for its excellent, professional bra fitting, as well as its kind and helpful staff; the creative shapewear consultations even include a ‘bring the dress’ initiative. In the window, passersby can spot an always pleasantly-coordinated display. Upon entry, this beautiful, intimate space, with its white and navy color scheme and bits of blush pink, is uncluttered and the displays complement one-another. It is impossible to browse without feeling the need to clear out everything you own and start from scratch with perfectly matching and fitting lingerie. If one gets the urge, it’s as easily said as done, thanks to the large, beautiful fitting rooms, the vast selection, and regularly rotating inventory of new and popular styles.
❤ We love the perfectly understated nature of this boutique. From the street, at a glance, one could mistake the building for a typical, wood-sided house – and would they ever be missing out!
