The Yongsheng Group
Created in China in 1993, Yongsheng became a group in 2003 with the creation of around 50 global subsidiaries in textiles, dying and 3D printing. Today it is listed on the stock exchange and has over 1000 employees. Already present in the textile industry, but not yet in the world of lace, this is the first time that the group has acquired a company abroad. Yongsheng set its sights on Desseilles for a host of reasons, for its history and globally recognized lace expertise, as part of a desire to carry on a part of French heritage, and finally to develop the company, its image and that of Calais-Caudry lace. All of this, of course, will be carried out with the support of the Desseilles team because no one knows lace better than them.
First Stop Asia, Next Stop the World
This will, in turn, allow Desseilles to roll out internationally, exporting French production and adding value to the brand, first in Asia and then across the rest of the world. Drawing upon her studies in China in textile and fashion management, Cloris Li, 30 years old, the new President of Desseilles, has been installed in Calais for a year. For her, leading this emblematic business is the adventure of a lifetime, "I am very confident in Desseilles' capacities to develop in new international markets. Our order book is full and we have some very big projects planned." Artistic Director, Gérard Dezoteux is considered one of the best in the world. He works by hand, using traditional methods, to bring life to lace with a rare complexity and fineness.
A Legacy of Lace
The origins of Desseilles Laces go back to the end of the 19th century (1890) as an association of multiple lace makers. In 1947, Robert Desseilles founded the company in his name. He went on to form a partnership with Larivière and Renaux to create DLR, which today has become Desseilles Laces. Desseilles Laces is a French business that creates, produces and distributes lace designed for the major part for the lingerie/corsetry and ready-to-wear sectors. Desseilles Laces enjoys protected designation status as a “Dentelle de Calais – Caudry,” which is exclusively reserved for Leavers lace woven in Calais or Caudry.
