This year the was a record breaking success as the event broke previous fundraising records, this year raising an amazing $631,000, $117,000 of which is reserved exclusively for industry scholarships. Inspiring and motivational speeches were given by the Femmy Honorees which this year saw Jennifer Foyle, Global Brand President, accepting the Retailer Award on behalf of Aerie; David Welsch, CEO, and Marilyn Welsch, Secretary and Treasurer, accepting the Manufacturer Award on behalf of Cupid Foundations Inc.; Ning Yi Shen, General Manager, accepting the Supplier Award on the behalf of Tianhai Lace Co., Ltd. and Lisa Struble, VP, Technical Design, accepting the Innovation award for Under Armour, Inc. Meanwhile, Norman Collier, Managing Director of Stretchline (UK) Ltd., was immortalized with The Liftetime Achievement Award.
The theme for the 2017 Fashion Institute of Technology Design Contest was Shapeletics where students showcased athleisure influenced lingerie and fabrics that made use of innovative technology such as fusing, bonding and laser cutting. The six finalists created three pieces - two examples of intimate apparel and one piece of outerwear. The Best of Intima supports the students with a dedicated photoshoot.
