The Best ofIntima & Swim Edit
02 April 2020
Larisa Olson, the owner of Chantilly Lace of Wilmette, Illinois (that we are happy to say was nominated, once again, for the Best of Intima Awards) has created an initiative to spread some positivity and comfort during this epidemic. Stemming from her drive to want to help and thank the nurses on the frontlines of the COVID-19 crisis in Chicago and the USA in general. Olson began by donating and delivering their inventory of comfortable items to nurses that she knew personally -- and received wonderful feedback.
As her clients heard about her efforts, they wanted to join the effort. Quickly, this turned into the Chantilly Lace Comfort Project. What started as a modest goodwill project had a secondary positive effect... it grew in a way that is now helping Chantilly Lace afloat, when it may have otherwise struggled to recover. Over $1,750 worth of donations has been made as of March 31st (for 35 nurses!), coming from customers and vendors alike. Montelle Canada has offered to partner with them and to provide merchandise for this project at a manageable wholesale rate.
Who? The nurses who receive the donations have been selected by the heads of the nursing departments, and can sometimes involve some luck based on the size assortment delivered to each hospital. "I'd like to gift each and everyone if I could find a way," said Olson.
What? Each donated bag is personalized to include the gift-giver's first name, last initial, and location, as well as the size and description. The bags include sizes from XS to XL.
When and Where? March 31 was the first delivery to Swedish Hospital, with contacts already made at Northwestern, Evanston Hospital, Highland Park Hospital, and Lake Forest Hospital.
How?! Olson and her son are selecting and delivering the merchandise in coordination with the hospitals. If you would like to donate and support nurses (and keep Chantilly Lace busy), visit their Gift a Nurse Page.
