Darlin' Nashville, USA

Located inside an 1800s train station in an up-and-coming neighbourhood one mile south of downtown Nashville, Darlin’ is the creation of Kathryn McGinnis. Kathryn moved to the city of music in 2014 and quickly realised it was lacking a quality lingerie selection. With a passion for great fitting and great feeling garments, McGinnis began researching, traveling, attending industry events and self-teaching, finally opening the doors to this exquisite 1,465 sqft boutique in 2018. Inspired by the 1960s London fashion store Biba, Darlin’ has a captivating vibe, enriched with layers of texture: Persian rugs, floral wallpaper, velvet, art deco inspired fixtures. Furnished with antique furniture the space also sports a few pieces as a nod to the historic train station, while purchases are completed at an 1890s general store checkout, with crystal chandeliers framing the cash register.

Specialising in smaller labels the store offers lingerie, nightwear and loungewear to women of all ages, as well as carrying some men’s lines which Kathryn is looking to expand. Store best-sellers are Only Hearts, Skarlett Blue, and Kilo Brava which the owners say literally “fly out of the store,” while she is looking forward to adding swimwear from summer 2021. Having recently expanded its online offer, since its opening Darlin’ has always been active in events, organising private parties (everything from book clubs, ladies’ brunches, bachelorette parties, birthdays) as well as fundraising and charity events. Being right next to an art gallery Darlin’ has even been part of a monthly art crawl.
